INDEPENDENCE DAY: Gov Fintiri pardons 18 prisoners

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has signed an executive order approving the release of 18 prisoners, serving various jail terms in 5 different correctional facilities across the state.

In a press statement signed and released by Solomon Kumangar D.G Media and Communications Government House Yola stated that the order is in commemoration of Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary.

It also stated that it is in pursuant of the Governors powers to Prerogative of Mercy, under section 22 (i) (d) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Documents giving effect to the Executive order has already been dispatched to the correctional facilities that include Numan, Yola, Ganye, Jada and Kojoli correctional services.

FINTIRI CONDEMNS TWIN ATTACK ON VILLAGERS

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has condemned in strong terms the recent deadly attacks on Shaforon and Kudomti communities of Numan Local government Areas in which one person was reportedly killed and several others injured.

The Governor in a press statement signed and released to newsmen by the Director General Media and Communications Government House Yola Solomon Kumangar, the Governor feels that the attack serves no useful purpose except to worsen the prevailing state of insecurity in the area.

The released stated that he is deeply saddened by the loss of live and regrets over those injured.

He however commended the swift action taken by security Agencies to repel and go after the attackers.

Governor Fintiri finally assures of decisive action on His imminent return to the State.

Gov. Fintiri still in Kogi, despite attack

In a press release signed by the Director General Media and Communications Government House Yola Mr. Solomon Kumangar and made available to newsmen, the Governor is safe and sound.

The release also drew the attention of the public to a misleading information that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has left Kogi after the early morning attack.

It stated that as the Chairman of the panel set-up to conduct the PDP Gubernatorial primaries, he has stayed back and has so far conducted the exercise in a free and fair manner.
