“The best possible thing you can get out of a relationship or marriage is that you’re with someone who encourages you to be the best version of yourself every day.” ~Nishan Panwar
A supportive partner is on your side no matter what go, ready to war with you and take the gift of life, regardless of the obstacles. She is a fighter and a loyal friend, against all odds.
Now imagine, a man, who has a good reputation, is respected, and holds a place of authority … What kind of woman would he want to be known as his wife?
Wives are called to be a helpmate, and this call to companionship is of extreme importance. A helpmate is a team player in the marriage, and a helpmate understands that each partner in the holy union must give all of themselves to further the relationship. It’s not a 50/50 kind of deal, but more like a 100/100.
A helpmate understands that somedays their partner may not be at their best, but it is in these instances that a true companion steps in to pick up the slack.
A helpmate is that unconditional loving partner who takes her eyes off herself and focuses them on her spouse. It’s easy as a human to think “me, me, me,” but to love like Jesus you take your eyes off simply what you’re getting out of the relationship. Instead you focus on what you may give to it.
I know that you might be wondering where these write up is heading to, so let me take you out of the misery. The woman I am referring to is none other than Mrs. Emily Elisha Ishaku, the wife to Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo.
She might be popular in her own little way but trust me, she is not impetuous, scatterbrained, or unpredictable. Rather, she is a trustworthy companion to the young Senator.
Her noteworthy character has made her distinguished herself among her peers, she has supported her husband through thick and thin; in fact even to his lowest ebb.
This is the kind of woman every man hopes to spend the rest of his life with, a bridge builder, respectful and down to earth individual.
Do you remember the scandal he faced months after becoming a Senator? Emily has been the backbone of his comeback, she supported him in all ramifications during the trail.
Isn’t these the kind of woman you are wishing for? Someone who will stand by you even when the world is against you.
That single act, made her an envy to a lot of people. They praised her courage and doggedness for giving her husband the emotional support which enabled him overcome the trails.
It is said that when two people are married, they tend to adopt the traits of their partners.
It is no longer hidden that Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo is a great humanitarian, he is so obsessed with helping people, most especially the poor and the vulnerable in the community.
Against this back drop, Emily decided to embark on numerous humanitarian visits to prisons as well as hospitals.
She visited both the prisons and hospitals in Mubi the hometown of her husband, these two places are were you will find people irrespective of tribe, religion or party affiliations.
She was at Mubi General Hospital and Al-Ummah Hospital Mubi where she interacted with patients in celebration of Christmas.
She didn’t just interact with them, she offset bills of some of the patients who were unable to pay for their medical bills.
Not only that, she also visited the Mubi Prison twice, during Christmas and New Year celebrations where she donated foodstuffs to the inmates in festive celebrations.
Have it in mind that there is no office of the wife of the Senator, she is just passionate about helping people; just like her husband Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo, the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial Zone in the red chamber.
A good wife is Royal in Heart. She is a crown to her husband, and pride to the home where she was raised. She is called a W.I.F.E because she is a Woman In Full Effect.
No man succeeds without a good woman behind him. Wife or mother, if it is both, he is twice blessed indeed.
Woman was not made out of man’s feet to be below him, nor was she made from his head, to be above him, but she was made from his rib, to be beside him.
And she has been on his side in good and in bad times, Emily is a role model to a lot of ladies and men alike.
Following the recent constitution of viewed members of the Adamawa State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, the 17 Board Members of the Board were finally inaugurated.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony which took place at the Government House Conference Hall, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said his administration is geared towards repositioning relevant Government machinations and institutions for effective service delivery, hence the constitution of the board members that will pilot the affairs of the board.
While tasking them to be steadfast and diligent in discharging the responsibilities vested on them, he mentioned that their role is so strategic in the society.
“You are needed now more than ever, especially in handling the statutory responsibility of organizing and administering Hajj Operations for intending Muslims Pilgrims in Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” he said.
Governor Fintiri said his administration has the responsibility to restructure institutions with a view to correcting abnormalities “this development therefore calls for individual and collective responsibilities from all relevant stakeholders inorder to maximally achieve the desired objectives for which the board was established.
The Governor who mentioned that his administration is not unmindful of the irregularities that characterized previous Hajj operations, he challenged them to use their wealth of experience in ensuring irregularities are avoided in subsequent Hajj Operations in the state.
He revealed that his administration will provide a level playing ground for all citizens of the state irrespective of ethnic, religion, social and political affiliations.
While congratulating them on their well deserved appointments, he stated that despite the lean resources, his administration will fulfill all its campaign promises.
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of the newly constituted Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Alh. Usman Marafa who was the Governors Campaign General appreciated Governor Fintiri for finding them worthy and for the confidence reposed on them.
He said that even with the complex nature of Hajj Operations, he and his team will work hard to see that they deliver on the mandate given to them.
Marafa assured the Governor of their total commitment to render selfless service towards observing a hitch free pilgrimage.
While commending Governor Fintiri for his visionary and purposeful leadership that has placed the state on the path of accelerated development that has never been recorded in history, he urged the Governor to give them all the necessary support for the board to achieve the desired results.
At last the Adamawa State governorship tussle has been resolved by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. The Apex Court in its ruling again reaffirmed the mandate of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as elected Governor of Adamawa State. All said and done, the amount of pressure and attempts to truncate the People’s mandate has prove abortive.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has again proved himself an indomitable overcomer that has survived several machinations to put down his political career. He weathered the storm of being Acting Governor twice.
When it became clear that Fintiri would be Governor in 2014, he was suppressed and prevented from vying for the office. The story of Fintiri did not end there. During the Presidential campaign of Dr Goodluck Jonathan, at the mention of his name, the crowd was ecstatic.
On later occasions when the name ‘Fintiri’ is mentioned, the response of the crowd further revealed how he has captured the hearts of Adamawa citizens. It therefore did not come as a surprise that having endured the vicissitudes of the political clime that did not seem to favour him he was returned as the Governorship Candidate more than four years after. The ” INDOMITABLE OVERCOMER ” by the will of God and Adamawa people became Governor of Adamawa State.
But things that should have been kept to rest did not work out that way. Technicalities and political mumbo Jumbo were put in his path. It began with the MRDD a party relatively unknown under the mentorship of the then administration under erstwhile Governor Bindow became hell bent on distracting the normal electoral processes that were taking place to propel him to the Governorship position.
The challenge of the ommission of the MRDD then could be faulted on many grounds . For one, they pretended not to notice the ommission when the list of Governorship contestants was published by INEC, instead they waited until the election was declared inconclusive ( even when Fintiri was leading) before approaching the court to have the election cancelled. Once again Fintiri was vindicated following the subsequent litigation at the state High court where the case was dismissed.
It is instructive to note that this particular case roused the ire of Adamawa electorates who visibly voiced their angst in homes , streets, markets, work places etc…it was an AGONISING MOMENT then.
Not to let matters rest, a case was file at the Governorship petitions tribunal after his leading opponent former Governor Umaru Jibrilla Bindow congratulated him on his electoral victory. What would have been an end to the electoral process proved yet abortive as the APC took the case to the tribunal and lost out for lacking in merit.
The APC threafter took the case to the Appellate Court whereby Ex Governor Bindow was persuaded to apply and join join in the suit seeking to oust Governor Fintiri and declare him ( Bindow ) as duly elected . The suit was again thrown out.
Things would not rest again as the APC proceeded with the case to the Apex Court ( The Supreme Court of Nigeria). Beside being the Supreme Court at the helm of Affairs, the normal JAW JAW that is frequent in Nigerian politics and legal manipulations , word was abroad that the powers that be would manipulate the judgement of the Supreme Court to deny Fintiri’s mandate, but the votes of the people and their prayers could not give the ” manipulators ” their desired results.
It is pertinent to note here again that the tension and anxiety that gripped the minds of Adamawa electorates while awaiting the final judgement of the Supreme Court was EXCRUCIATING!! This is because while the Adamawa APC guys were relishing in the confidence of” grabbing back the power”, PDP supporters were genuinely in prayers and living with a realization of uncertainty as to ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. Especially, bearing in mind the way IMO case was decided.
It could be recalled that before the Adamawa ruling, the case in Imo state in a much debated fashion that continues to hover round Nigerian political discussions created furor over interpretations.
Only after 2019 General elections did Nigerians wake up to learn a new phrase called ” inconclusive “. The word inconclusive to many Nigerians practically means being denied! Having agreed on anything, when you loose out the result is inconclusive “. So it was inconclusive in Imo when arose the claim that results from over three hundred units were ” inconclusive ” that made it possible for the number four position in an election to be declared winner.
This created fear in the hearts of those that voted for Fintiri , while the hawks of the APC became confident and were even publicly boasting that the people’s mandate will be snatched by a manipulated judiciary to hand over and ” underserved victory” to the people that have been rejected by popular votes and wish of the people. This of course did not happen.
The judiciary has proved that all said and done, it could stand up to its duties. And now that the mandate of Governor Fintiri has been affirmed by the highest court of the law in Nigeria, he is saddled with the task of delivering what he promised the people and this is no easy task .
His pronouncement at the victory Rally which held in the state capital of checking the fraudulent activities that preceded him will not endear him to the people that soiled their hands in defrauding Adamawa citizens of what rightfully belongs to them. This is one aspect our Governor must pay attention to.
The Governor should be wary of people that would appear to be friends while in reality they mean him and the people of Adamawa no good.
The travails of Governor Fintiri might not have been over, his traducers will not rest and the people of Adamawa must continue to watch carefully how attempts would be made to hinder his government from achieving what was promised the people.
What transcends in the public domain might be unknown to him but his grassroot connection that has kept him will not be forgotten. He is set to work and will deliver on promise made to the people.
For Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, he knows that the act of governance is not easy. He has been there, at the bottom up to the top.
Governor Fintiri knows what the people are , how they can change behaviour and under what pressure they would bend.
Adamawa has suffered a lot. Her resources has been plundered over the years and her future mortgaged in debts. It is high time the opposition, the fence sitters and traducers alike join hands in helping the FRESH AIR Governor to take the battered state out of the DOLDRUMS!!
George Kushi is the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State
Hoping to restore the once aesthetic beauty of Malamre in Karewa ward of Yola the Adamawa State capital, where Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s personal residence is located, the Councillor of the ward Hon. Micheal Okopi has re-introduce the Saturday weekly sanitation exercise.
Environmental and health issues have been a major challenge in the vicinity, following indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
But the Councillor, who disclosed this during the clean up on Saturday, noted with dismay that cleanup and sanitation exercise was not conducted over the years.
He stressed that he decided to reintroduce the weekly Saturday sanitation exercise to keep the environment clean and tidy.
“In our determination to keep the environment clean at all times, we have decided to re-introduce the weekly sanitation exercise” mentioned.
Okopi was also appreciative of the people of the community for coming out in large numbers to support the exercise.
While urging residents and traders in the area to sustain the sanitation and cleanup exercise, he advised them to always keep their environments clean to be healthy.
The young politician while restated his commitment to execute good policies and programmes that would affect the lives of the people positively, urged the people to change their attitudes to environmental cleanliness.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has once again proved his Zero tolerance to corruption as he vowed to probe public office holders who stole public funds in the last administration.
The Governor who recieved a hero’s welcome after his victory at the Supreme Court, said that corruption which occurred in previous administrations is responsible for the decay in the local government administrations as well as the entire system of governance and that no corrupt government official will be spared.
Governor Fintiri While speaking to a mammoth crowd of supporters and well wishers said under his administration security of lives and property has improved significantly and that he will not relent till peace is finally restored.
On his victory at the highest court in the land, the Governor thanked Almighty God for the victory, also appreciated the people of Adamawa for electing him and also staying by him till the court tassel was over.
He used the forum to call on opposition parties to join hands with him to move the state forward, stated that the its not a time for campaign but positive development.
Earlier in his remarks, Adamawa State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr A.T Shehu expressed joy over the Supreme Court verdict and declared that the party will continue to take the state to greater heights.
He applauded the good people of the state for sticking with the party since day one, he promised that Governor Fintiri is equal to the task of providing dividends of democracy to all.
The mammoth crowd which welcomed the Governor and his team from the Yola International Airport all the way down to Ribadu Square is testament that the people of the state are with the Governor whose giant strides in development can not be overlook.
If you can recall, the main opposition party in the state, the APC challenged the victory of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri starting from the election petition tribunal, the appeal court and finally the Supreme Court where all courts declared that he won the 2019 gubernatorial election with a landslide.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has challenged political office holders in the state to emulate Sen. Binos Yaroe by engaging in people’s oriented programme that will have a direct impact on the lives of the people.
The Governor threw the challenge while fielding questions from journalists after going round Ganye General Hospital, venue of the free medical outreach sponsored by the Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone.
While passing a high encomium on the lawmaker for his foresight for organizing a yearly free medical outreach to people of his constituency, disclosed that his administration has made the Health sector one if it’s top priorities.
In line with the adage “Health is Wealth” Governor Fintiri revealed that plan is in the pipeline to deploy medical equipments in an effort to make the hospital a referral center.
He said that the Health Sector which is one of the critical sectors will be revived, as such his administration Will make Ganye General Hospital working again due to it’s role in providing quality healthcare services to the people of the chiefdom.
Governor Fintiri used the medium to reveal his administration’s plan of renovating and upgrading other hospitals in the state, stock it with state-of-act facilities and to also provide qualified medical workers that will take care of the health needs of the people.
He finally urged political office holders to engage in human capital development programs for the overall interest of the people.
Following the success of the maiden Free Medical Outreach in Demsa last year, Senator Binos Yaroe who promised constituents of the yearly programme flagged off a 3 days Medical outreach for his constituents to access free medical diagnosis and treatments in Ganye.
The free medical outreach at Ganye General hospital is expected to cover more than the 8000 beneficiaries in Demsa, the screening of various ailments which includes HIV, Hepatitis a/b, tuberculosis, diabetes, terminal illness, eye problem, minor surgery, and dental issue.

As year 2019 ran out, it was full of packaged events.
Amidst the sweet chaos, I took a step back to reflect on the achievements of the Fintiri’s led administration and what we should expect in the coming year.
Prior to the emergence of the new administration, I was optimistic that the people of Adamawa State made the right choice by voting Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the Executive Governor of the state. This assumption was predicted on the fact that in only 3 months in acting capacity changed the fortune of the state.
Having said that, you will agree with me that Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has done exceedingly well in his first 7 months in office, from the education sector, security, infrastructure as well as welfare and if he continues with the current pace, believe me that he will project our state on a high pedestal.
EDUCATION SECTOR Being an educated leader, in the 2020 budget tagged “the budget of rebirth”, the sector “Ministry of Education and Human Development” got the lion share of 17.3B.
Fintiri who is a product of quality education has not relent on reviving the education sector, the sector has received attention since the inception of the present administration.
He argues that free and high quality education is the key to the future as well as harnessing the potentials of the younger generation, that was why he had to introduce free and compulsory education for primary and secondary school pupils.
He restocked public secondary school clinics with drugs and first aid kits, he also facilitated for the distribution of 40,440 textbooks, 3,800 students desk, 200 teachers chairs and 26,000 science literally charts for public secondary schools across the 7 Local Government areas ravaged by insurgency in the state, as well as providing teaching materials to the 21 LGCs in the state.
He signed and approved scholarship for 60 students willing to study engineering courses in Mewar university India.
He ordered for the payment of scholarship funds to Adamawa Students studying in various universities all over the country, also ordered the construction of a 2,000 capacity hostel for students of Adamawa State University Mubi. He approved the conversion of college for legal studies to a faculty of law at the State University.
To provide a conducive learning and teaching environment, Governor Fintiri approved for the rehabilitation of 5000 classrooms in schools across the state and introduced free WAEC/NECO examinations to students.
The Governor was also instrumental for the conversion of Moddibbo Adama University of Technology Yola (MAUTECH) to a conventional University that will make it possible for the institution to make employments, accommodate more courses and admit more students.
HEALTH AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
There is a saying “Health is Wealth” and in view of these, Governor Fintiri allocated the huge sum of 10B to the sector in the 2020 budget.
He approved the sum of 26m for the release of 6 containers load of medical equipments abandoned at the Lagos ports for years.
The medical equipments were bought for the maternity section of Adamawa German Hospital which was constructed by former Governor Murtala Nyako.
He facilitated for a bill, under the Adamawa Health Insurance Law No 7 as amended which will provide free healthcare services to these set of people: Unemployed Persons under 20 Pregnant Women Indigent Persons above 65 And physically challenged
Just recently, he commissioned the Dougirie Primary Healthcare Center, the medical facility which will provide services to Dougirei community is a joint project by the Adamawa State Primary HealthCare Development Agency and the Department of State Service (DSS).
Many General and Cottage Hospitals in the state are expected to undergo renovation and upgrading this year.
Infrastructure is the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities needed for the operation of a society.
This is now bringing us to the Ministry of Works and Energy who were allocated 16.2B, Ministry of Rural Infrastructure and Community Development got 7.5B while that of Housing and Urban Development is 2.8B.
This has to do with buildings, road construction and power supplies, which are essential commodities for a fast growing economy and development.
As regards to infrastructure, the urban area isn’t the only place benefitting, as he kick started the construction and rehabilitation of 281km rural roads in 15 rural communities across the state.
The communities the construction is taking place simultaneously are Konan Yaji – Mijiwana – Gilanbara – Amdur. Hong – Mijili – Kuvagaya Wurobokki – Uding – Pella Longa Ewa – WuroAbbo – Wuroyombe Toungo – Kiri Kola junction – Boshikiri Shelleng Bakta Numan/Biu road junction – Bare Tolde Pate prison – Yadim Gurin – Falingo Parda – Muninga Daba- Mayo Belwa Pole wire – Ndikong Ngurore/Mayo Belwa road junction – Gongoshi Ribawo junction – Muchalla Mayo Nguli- Manjeken – Salama
Can you remember the much talk about Pella – Maiha road during Governor Nyako’ tenure? Governor Fintiri has ordered the contractors back to site, now they have done almost half of the road, these with numerous roads contract abandoned by contractors all over the state.
The most popular and deadly road at the center of the town (Bachure road) will have a new look as the Governor approves and even flagged off the construction and rehabilitation of the road.
The Bachure road is among the roads listed from the 18kms road to be constructed within the state capital and environs.
Some of the these roads include Benue street Kaduna street Lusaka street Abeokuta street Ndafaro street Philip Maken and link roads Lagos, Falu and link roads Old Government House street Man ills and Jambutu streets at Nasarawo borehole.
You will agree with me that these are the major roads in the state capital that is in dire need of rehabilitation and reconstruction, other roads will be included subsequently.
The last time citizens of the state benefitted from housing allocation is close to 10 years during the time of Former Governor Nyako and Boni Haruna.
Governor Fintiri flagged off the construction of 2000 houses across communities in the state, 1400 houses will be built in the state capital, while the remaining to be constructed in other communities across the state.
Toungo Local Government Area which has been cut off from the national grid for more that 20 years has now been reconnected owing to the parallel commitment of this administration to the provision of social basic amenities.
The state secretariat has been operating without electricity and portable water, thanks to Governor Fintiri, lack of electricity and portable water is a thing of the past.
Streetlights installed in the state capital that were not functional due to the sabotage by hoodlums have been restored.
Prior to the advent of this administration, the state has been battling with unresolved security challenges of arm robbery, kidnapping and the dreaded Shilla boys. His political will to stem the tide of insecurity has brought criminal activities to its lowest ebb.
The sordid experience of inhabitants owing to criminality activities have now become a forgotten issue. Today, the people of the state can sleep with their eyes closed and go about their businesses unmolested.
His uncompromising stand on insecurity is responsible for the arrest of over 200 Shilla boys, over 50 kidnappers and also brought to the barest minimum, farmers and herders clashes through the involvement of vigilante groups and security operatives.
It is safe to say that the present administration has achieved 95% success in the fight against insecurity.
In the same vein, his administration acquired 60 Toyota hilux and 59 motorcycles for distribution to security outfits in the state, to aid them in fighting criminal activities in the state.
Apart from sending a bill to the State House of Assembly concerning the activities of criminals in the state, the activities of cattle rustlers has been drastically reduced. More interesting is the implementation of a salary structure for vigilante groups because of their significance in checking criminal activities, banditry and insurgency.
So far, the present administration has recorded huge success in the fight against insecurity, you hear little or no cases of criminality.
Every decision and policy this government has rolled out is for the betterment of the people and not for the Governors personal benefit.
The government had so far shown faith with the people and the future looked very good for the state.
With what the people saw, expectations will be high this year as other communities and local government areas will want to breath the fresh air of the present administration. If I were them, I wouldn’t stress a finger knowing well that Governor Fintiri is equal to the task and will deliver on the mandate given to him.
Following series of poor outing in the Nigerian Professional League, the Head Coach of Adamawa United Coach Mohammed Bello has been sacked.
Coach Bello guided the Yola based football club to the Premier League from the Nigeria National League in September even after his side lost to Akwa Starlets now Dakkada FC in the finals of the NNL Super 4.
Coach Bello’s sack is coming after the team lost 0 – 2 to Rivers United in front of home fans.
Adamawa United have recorded only three wins after 11 games, drawing one and losing seven.

Governor Fintiri commended the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) for conducting a widely acknowledged free, fair and credible local government election.

Former Nigerian Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has challenged the Federal Government to emulate Adamawa State Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri policy of allocating at least 10% of the total budget appropriations to the education sector.
The former Vice President gave the challenge while presenting a paper titled “A pathway to exit the dubious record of being a word headquarters for extreme poverty”at the 14th American University of Nigeria ceremony held at the Aliyu Mustapha Commencement Hall American University of Nigeria Main Campus in Yola.
He said “We cannot grow Nigeria if we do not invest in
education, reason why we have insecurity is because we have poverty, and the
reason why we have poverty is because we have illiteracy. It is a cycle that we
can only break by educating our people”
He further described education as the ultimate key to
greatness “Education is the principal thing. When we get this right, we will
get Nigeria right. The easiest way, to make the most significant impact, in the
shortest amount of time, is via education”.
“As proof, I cite the fact that 2014 represented the year Nigeria invested the most in education with a ₦493 billion allocation (then the equivalent of $3.3 billion) to education, representing 9.94% of the total budget” he mentioned
“The very next year, the trio of the World Bank, the World
Economic Forum, and CNN Money rated Nigeria as the third fastest-growing
economy in the world. Again, I ask, was that a coincidence?” he queried.
“If you think that it is, then how do you explain the fact
that Nigeria slid into a recession the same year that our education budget
began to drop from their pre-2015 levels? The total percentage of the budget
allocated to education in 2014 was 9.94%, which dropped to 6.10% in 2016. It is
as clear as night and day” he stated.
In ending poverty, he mentioned that “if we can find a way
to ensure that all Nigerian children leave school with at least basic reading
and writing abilities, we would have found a way to end extreme poverty in
Nigeria, which is why we must devote the bulk of our resources to education”.
Furthermore, the former Vice President explained that with
support from the government by way of tax incentives and part funding, Nigeria
can ease her educational challenges by adopting the German Dual VET model. “And
it is a win-win for both government and the Organized Private Sector in that
the educational boost will lead to an increase in highly skilled workers for
the real sector, which will boost the economy and reduce unemployment”.
“I want to see an MTN Academy for Telecommunications
Studies, an Access Bank School of Business and Banking Studies, a Dangote
Institute for Agriculture and Engineering and an Innoson School of Automotive
Studies” he challenged.
He added that vocational education is so big in Germany and
Japan that a lot of the German and Japanese labour force are vocationally
educated by the private sector.
He finally challenged students to reach for the stars and change
the face of Nigeria and the world for the betterment of mankind.
Earlier in her remarks, the President American University of
Nigeria Dr Dawn Dekle applauded the former Vice President for his foresight in establishing

He said so far the present administration has performed creditably well in the area of education in addition it has tackled the bottleneck in the local governments by granting them financial autonomy.
According the Governor, the present administration will not rest on its oars in terms of delivering good governance to the masses to justify the confidence reposed on the government.
Governor Umaru Fintiri declared that his administration will not condone corruption of whatever kind and he will continue to be just and fair to all manner of people in the state.
He called on the participants to used the knowledge acquired during the celebration for spiritual benefits and extend same to others in the society for positive development of all.
He sought from the faithfuls prayers and support to enable his administration to continue in the provision of good governance to the people of Adamawa.
In his remark, the host of the ceremony, Sheikh Modibbo Ibrahim Abubakar Daware enjoined people to use the teachings of Islam in all their dealings and unite live for peace and prosperity

He equally advised the citizenry to not to disturb political leaders with frequent unnecessary requests but allow them to face governance for the overall interest of Adamawa.
Among dignitaries present at the ceremony include the District Heads of Daware and Ganye Alhaji Hassan Yarima Jafaru and Alhaji Aminu Adamu Sanda.
Others were the District Heads of Belel and Dasheng Alhaji Abubakar Dan Lawal Mubi and Alhaji Ahmadu Baba Ganso who is the Wamban Ganye among other prominent Islamic scholars from within and outside the country.
There was wild celebration when Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri ordered for the payment of salaries with the new national minimum wage, starting from this month.
For me, it didn’t come as a surprise because Gov. Fintiri has proven times without number that he is a man who matches words with action.
Being a staunch supporter of the present administration and Gov. Fintiri, I cannot but applaud him for how he has been able to tackle numerous issues he met on ground upon his assumption into office.
There is no doubt that Governor Fintiri is known to be a civil servant Governor, he proved that during his first spell as acting Governor in 2014, apart from paying the 2 months arrears left by the Nyako’s administration, salaries were constantly paid.
Fast forward to this year, immediately he assumed office as the democratic Governor of the state, just like he did in the past, he settled 2 months outstanding salaries left behind by the Bindow’s era, he paid leave grants as well.
Not only that, he flagged off the construction of 2000 housing units for civil servants in the state. No doubt, Governor Fintiri has civil servants at heart.
For some reasons, he had to suspend the sunset employment of more than 5000 workers that were employed by the immediate past administration of Gov. Bindow.
That is the only issue that is jeopardizing the efforts of the Governor who is hell bent on reviving and restructuring of Adamawa State.
It’s actually a thing of joy to see the issue put to rest once and for all, I was tired of seeing people grumbling about the situation. I have family and friends alike who are affected, I believe the Governor himself has relatives that are affected by his decision but I also know that it is in the interest of the state.
But the decision of the present administration to terminate the employment of staff employed from 2017-2019 was greeted with so much rumbling.
I must commend the Governor for taking the bold step of disengaging some of the staff employed at the Adamawa State Polytechnic Yola, I believe that the action was taken in the best interest of the state.
Not that I’m happy about the engagement but I believe that the weed was separated from the chaff.
There was numerous case of incompetence and illegality in the whole employment process, while some were suspected of buying the employment letters, some of the employments was done not in tandem with federal character as is enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Prior to the disengagement, the Governor constituted a committee to look into the whole employment saga and it was after the committee report that the Governor acted on the recommendations of the committee.
Even though some people, most especially those affected and people connected to the opposition party are not happy, it’s not about a particular set of people not being happy but about the future of the education sector.
I heard from a very reliable source that the present administration is working out modalities to create a portal for employment opened to all citizens of the state unlike what was done by the immediate past administration who gave out employment letters to their friends and cronies who are unqualified
I urge the people affected to take the decision in good faith and apply when the portal is open, Adamawa will be great again. We can’t castigate Governor Fintiri while we praised Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna when such action was taken in Kaduna State

SECURITY The issue of insecurity is a thing of the past now, all thanks to Governor Fintiri, Gone are the days when kidnapers, gunmen and the deadly Shilla boys carry out their activities unabated. He made it clear from the start, during his inauguration speech where he gave an ultimatum to the dreaded Shilla boys and Kidnappers in the state to lay down their arms and shape out or be shipped out. Even before the expiration of the 2 weeks ultimatum, Governor Fintiri held a close door meeting with service chiefs in the state to deliberate on the tactics to adopt. Following the expiration of the 2 weeks ultimatum, Governor Fintiri in company of Service Chiefs and other top government functionaries stormed the famous mini sambisa forest, the hideout of the dreaded Shilla boys which led to the arrest of more than a dozen suspected Shilla boys. His tough stand on insecurity is responsible for the arrest of over 200 Shilla boys, over 50 kidnappers and also brought to the barest minimum, farmers and herders clashes which were getting out of hand. It is safe to say that the present administration has achieved 95% success in the fight against insecurity. In the same vein, his administration acquired 80 Toyota hilux and more than100 motorcycles to be distributed to security outfits in the state, which will aid them in fighting criminal activities in the state. Apart from sending a bill to the State House of Assembly concerning the activities of criminals in the state, the activities of cattle rustlers has drastically reduced
EDUCATION The educational system was in a state of comatose before Fintiri came on board; the first place he visited on his first day in office was Government Girls School (GG) Yola to assess the feeding programme which was stopped in the school due to the negligence of the previous administration. Not only did he interact with the school management, he interacted with the students as well, which led to the reintroduction of school feeding programme in secondary schools in the state. The school feeding programme which was kick started with 7 schools as a pilot programme was later extended to the remaining schools across the state. Not only that, he introduced free and compulsory education, with free WAEC/NECO as well. For students to learn in a conducive environment, he approved for the rehabilitation of 5000 classrooms in school across the state Higher institutions were not left out as he also approved the conversion of college for legal studies to a faculty of law at the Adamawa State University Mubi.
The Governor also led top government functionaries and Adamawa State leaders of thought to meet President Muhammadu Buhari, to lobby for the conversion of Moddibbo Adama University of Technology Yola (MAUTECH) to a conventional university that will make it possible for the institution to accommodate more courses and admit more students. His administration has also reclaimed all illegal allocation of school lands , approved the implementation of the report of the visitation panel set up to investigate the illegal appointments made by the former administration, as well as the payment of matching grant to UBE for accessing over 8 Billion Naira UBE stimulus.
INFRASTRUCTURE/ URBAN BEAUTIFICATION The last time citizens of the state benefitted from housing allocation is close to 10 years during times of Former Governor Nyako and Boni Haruna. It is because of the housing deficit in the state that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri decided to build 2000 houses for the citizens of the state. While signing an MOU with Family Homes, he said that 1200 houses will be built in the state capital, while the remaining local government areas will get 40 houses each by 2020. In an effort to restore the building plan of the Jimeta Ultra Modern Market, he revoked the sale of lands around the market.
Toungo Local Government Area which has been cut off from the national grid for more that 20 years has now been reconnected all thanks to the current administration. In collaboration with European Union, he launched the Euro 10M solar Nigeria project which will serve as a source of electricity to Health centres for effective service delivery. Streetlights installed in the state capital that were not functional due to the sabotage by hoodlums have been restored.
WORKERS WELFARE AND ENTITLEMENT Known as the ATM Governor, workers welfare, salaries and entitlement is among the top of his priorities. He pays full salaries as at when due and has made commitment to offset accumulated arrears the moment opportunity presents itself. Before his assumption of office, he had made it crystal clear that payment of salaries and entitlement shall not be compromised, contrary to the prevailing nonchalant attitude towards civil servants, Adamawa being a workers state are now getting their full entitlements. Not only is salary being paid before 25th of the month, it is paid even without collecting overdraft, he paid the 2019 leave grants, pension and gratuity of retired civil servants have been paid from 2012 and also he raised the monthly allocation for payments of pension and gratuity from 50 million to 100 million so that the accumulated pension and gratuity of pensioners will be settled.

HEALTH Meanwhile, in the health sector, aged people, pregnant women and children under the age of 5 receive free treatment from Government owned hospitals and clinics, courtesy of the Fintiri’s led administration
Due to the incessant attack by Boko Haram in villages during the past administration, a lot of people had to flee their homes to avoid being killed and couldn’t come back now that the security situation has improved, so he facilitated the return of 133 Nigerian refugees residing in Cameroon just as promised. He adopted Treasury Single Account in order to ensure prudence in the management of resources in the overall interest of governance. TSA will checkmate leakages and also boast Internally Generated Revenue. The Governor knows the importance of tackling corruption and so he is doing it amicably. We might not see the quick effect of his developmental drive because of the rotten system he inherited, but with time, everything will be put in place at the proper time.
