PDP HAILS ADAMAWA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION TRIBUNAL VERDICT

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the affirmation of the election of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa by the State Governorship Election Tribunal, as victory for democracy and a triumph of the will and aspiration of the people.

In a press statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, the victory did not come as a surprise, as it affirmed the mandate of the people.

While rejoicing with the people of Adamawa state who have been jubilant over the verdict, the statement stated that it marks the consolidation of their aspiration for a purposeful, transparent and result-oriented government for greater cohesion, stability and productivity in the state.

“Unarguably, Governor Fintiri was elected because of his manifest patriotism and dedication to duty as already evinced in his zeal towards the development of the state, empowerment of the people as well as peaceful coexistence in the state” it reads.

It also stated that “Already, Governor Fintiri’s fervor towards the rapid development of the state in various sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, education, health care, rural development, industrialization and other critical areas of life, stand him out as a leader devoted only to the good of the people”.

While commending the judiciary for upholding justice, public officials elected and appointed on its platform are urged to continue in their selfless service to the people; for which the party is known across the country and beyond.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: Gov Fintiri pardons 18 prisoners

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has signed an executive order approving the release of 18 prisoners, serving various jail terms in 5 different correctional facilities across the state.

In a press statement signed and released by Solomon Kumangar D.G Media and Communications Government House Yola stated that the order is in commemoration of Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary.

It also stated that it is in pursuant of the Governors powers to Prerogative of Mercy, under section 22 (i) (d) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Documents giving effect to the Executive order has already been dispatched to the correctional facilities that include Numan, Yola, Ganye, Jada and Kojoli correctional services.

JUST IN: GOV. FINTIRI APPROVES GOVERNING COUNCIL FOR ADSU

In an effort to commence  the process of having a substantive Vice Chancellor and a substantive Registrar at the Adamawa State University (ADSU) Mubi, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the constitution of a Governing council for the institution.

In a press statement signed by the Director General Media and Communications Government House Yola Solomon Kumangar and released to pressmen, the appointments take immediate effect.

The council consist of Awwal D. Tukur as Chairman, Zira Maigadi and Kashim Njidda.

Others are Mrs. Mary Sawa, Alh. Zubairu Gabdo Toungo, Representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Higher Education.

It could be recalled that Governor Fintiri while playing host to the management staff of the Adamawa state university who paid him a courtesy visit earlier said that the he is approving the constitution of the governing council so that they can have the instrumentality of the authority to do what is right to the university.

The University has been operating without a substantive Vice Chancellor and Registrar for the past 3 years

Gov. Fintiri still in Kogi, despite attack

In a press release signed by the Director General Media and Communications Government House Yola Mr. Solomon Kumangar and made available to newsmen, the Governor is safe and sound.

The release also drew the attention of the public to a misleading information that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has left Kogi after the early morning attack.

It stated that as the Chairman of the panel set-up to conduct the PDP Gubernatorial primaries, he has stayed back and has so far conducted the exercise in a free and fair manner.
