Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri couldn’t come at a better time than this, Adamawa citizens must be proud of electing him as the number one citizen of the state.

Tagging him as a “Saviour” is not out of point, within a short period he has changed the narratives, he has restored hope to the hopeless.

Governor Fintiri had during the weekend embarked on a historic journey to the ancient city of Mubi, the hometown of the immediate past Governor.

Not only did he receive a rousing welcome, the whole town stood still as they welcomed a true son of the soil.

The Governor who was in the state for a tripartite mission first visited the palace of the Emir of Mubi for his royal blessing.

The palace was filled to the brim upon the arrival of the Governor, which signaled the love and adoration the Mubi emirate council has for him.

Not only did he intimate the Royal Father on his plans in the area, he urged him to sit with his council members and produce a suitable land so that he can build an international market since Mubi is known to be a market hub.

The 2 days working visit by the Governor was to have an on the spot assessment of facilities and equipment’s at the refurbished Mubi water treatment plant, Adamawa State University Mubi and the Mubi General Hospital so as to address the yearnings and aspirations of the masses.

On the issue of pipe borne water, we all know that water is an essential part of life and it was in this regard that the present administration under the leadership of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri collaborated with the European Union (EU) to provide water to the people of Mubi.

Upgrading of the treatment plant is a proof that water shortage will soon be a thing of the past.

At the Mubi General Hospital, which is the only referral centre in the whole northern senatorial zone, the Governor was taken round some wards.

There and then, he revealed that plans are under way to upgrading facilities and equipment’s, improving management staff by employing more doctors and nurses to meet up the needs of the patients.

A visit to the Adamawa State University Mubi proved to be a mission to rescue the once centre of excellence.

Not only did he go round to inspect projects currently ongoing in the school, he visited the newly renovated boys hostel that was razed down by fire months ago.

Amidst roaring cheers from the students, he gave them a message of hope that his administration will build 3 more faculties, a hostel that will accommodate 2000 students, and will also pay scholarship allowances to all tertiary indigents.

The crowd went agog when he finally told them that he was briefed about the institutions inability to organize a convocation ceremony for almost 11 years, where he promised them that he will facilitate for the school to hold its first convocation ceremony after a long period.

You might think that Governor Fintiri is just like the ordinary Nigerian politicians who don’t stick to their words, even the opposition are aware of his talk and do antics.

All these are not just mere promises, Fintiri has proven without any iota of doubt that he means business.

He is calmly fulfilling his campaign promises, let’s just continue to pray for his success.

The greatest investment in this world is to invest in human beings, and Governor Fintiri is an expert in that field.

FINTIRI: A man of his words

Daniel Tabiyatiya

You will agree with me that the most popular demands of the citizens of Adamawa State is housing.

The last time citizens benefitted from a housing scheme was during the Nyako’s led administration which provided about 500 houses which is grossly inadequate for the people.

Population will continue to grow and not remain stagnant, the state housing problems are daunting and overwhelming, so a good housing scheme has become highly imperative

Worried by the housing shortfall in the state, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in collaboration with Family Homes Fund signed a memorandum of understanding in a move to bridge the housing deficit by constructing 2000 housing units in the state.

The construction might not fully address the housing needs of the citizens of the state but will go a long way in reducing the deficit and giving citizens the assurances of a better deal in the future owing to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s declaration at the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction where he reiterated his administration’s commitment to provide houses for the people.

Not only will the houses be ready by the year 2020 as promised by Family Homes Fund, it will be affordable just like what they signed with the government.

The 2000 houses will be spread across communities in the state, 1400 will be built in 4 locations in the state capital and environs, 300 in Mubi Local Government Area, while the remaining to be shared among other communities.

Apart from the housing deficit, the security situation in the country is worrisome, most especially in the northeastern part of the country with Adamawa inclusive, ranging from banditry, kidnapping, farmers-herders clashes and the Shilla cult group who have been going about their business unabated under the former administration.

Our predicament as a nation is lack of political will enforce our national laws. Adamawa must count itself lucky to have gotten a leader like Fintiri.

It was the political will of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to stem the tide of insecurity in the state that is responsible for the relative peace we now enjoy in the state.

He has placed security top of his priority list after education; this became evident when the Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo commissioned the 60 Toyota Hilux and 50 Motorcycles security operational vehicles tagged operation farauta in an effort to boast the morale of security agents in the state.

His uncompromising stand on insecurity that led to the arrest of close to 300 Shilla cult group members and 50 kidnappers has brought sanity in the state.

Suffice it to say that the present administration has achieved 95% success in the fight against insecurity.

These two programmes are confirmation and evidences of what Fintiri represents in the states political lexicon. Indeed, he is a man who matches words with action.

THROUGH THE LENS – By Daniel Tabiyatiya

Bathiya: A lawmaker with a difference.

Any eligible voter can run as a candidate for election to the State House of Assembly.
Members are elected to represent the specific interests of their constituents but are also representatives of the their local government and must consider their needs as a whole.
Whatever their political outlook, and regardless of which side of the Assembly they sit on, members’ duties and obligations are considerable.

Across Nigeria political atmosphere there are unsung heroes and heroines whose selfless actions have saved lives.
Others have dedicated their lives for their electorates, they are becoming servants with shining examples to inspire and motivate the
younger generation.

The story of Hon. Bathiya Wesley Mava’ama the member representing Hong in the Adamawa state House of Assembly (ADHA) is inspiring.

As a workaholic, he has many achievements to his name in less than 100 days in office serving the people of Hong constituency.

His progressive ideas over the past few months has endeared him closer to his constituents who regards him as a savior that is sent by God to liberate the people of Hong.

The electorates on their part are now enjoying the dividends of democracy, thanks to the young lawmaker who has been serving humanity since before joining politics.

I’m sure they have not regretted voting him at the last election, because he has since implemented his campaign promises swiftly.

Their yearnings and aspirations are being confronted by these fearless lawmaker who is bent on providing social amenities to his constituents.

Hong Local Government Area which houses the two main religions, Christianity and Islam has been relatively peaceful but are now bonded than before because of his nonchalant attitude towards religious sentiments.

His commitment to run an all-inclusive representation to his constituents without fear or favour to a particular section has given him the name, The Unifier.

Just like Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Hon. Bathiya is someone who matches words with action which is evident for all to see.

Hon. Bathiya Wesley Mava’ama has since embarked on human capital projects in his community with his personal resources even before assuming office as member representing Hong Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

He is the only disable lawmaker in the country (I stand to be corrected) but that has not stopped him from executing his responsibilities because he has been working round the clock in the interest of his people.

• As an intelligent, capable and hardworking lawmaker, he was appointed Chairman House Standing Committee on Education
• Knowing how hardworking Hon. Bathiya is, he was appointed to serve as member of 3 House Standing Committees, Agriculture, Health and Inter parliamentary, special duties and IDP.
3. Hon. Bathiya is the first lawmaker to move a motion in the 7th assembly, the motion is for the house to constitute an investigation panel that will investigate last minute employments and transfer of service of the past administration.

Even though his Primary assignment as a state lawmaker is to implement laws, he has started providing dividends of democracy to his constituents.
The following are his achievements in less than 100 days in office:
• With the saying ‘Health is Wealth’ he initiated Universal Health for Hong which caters and solve the health problems of people in his constituency.
• Under 2 months in office, with a view of providing portable drinking water for his people, he refurbished and drilled boreholes in some communities like Dada Woloji, Pathalngnda, Kwatau and Shangui ward.
• With the view of providing housing accommodation for his constituents, he led the management of the Adamawa State Victim Support Fund (VSF) to access the damage done to the Housing estate and local government Secretariat by insurgents about 4 years ago.
• For his people to have access to their farms and for easy transportation, he renovated some rural roads like in Uding, Holma and Wuro Bokki
• During Ramadan, he gave out 5 generating set to 5 daily prayer mosques in Anguwan Hausawa and also gave foodstuff worth close to a million for (Eid-el fitr) sallah festivity.
• He visited Munga community which was ravaged by flood and provided food stuff and money to cushion the hardship caused by the disaster.

• He distributed foodstuff, rams and wrappers to the Hong Muslim Community for (Eid-el Kabir) sallah celebration.
Being a devoted Christian, he reached out twice to the Muslim community during sallah (Eid-el Fitr and Eid-el Kabir) celebration.
He is among the young lawmakers in the 7th Assembly who represents hope for the future generation.

He is on track and if he continues then he might as well be the first lawmaker to be reelected for a second term as a state lawmaker representing Hong Constituency.

I stand corrected on the facts and figures in these piece.

The educational system was in a state of comatose before Fintiri came on board; the first place he visited on his first day in office was Government Girls School (GG) Yola to assess the feeding programme which was stopped in the school due to the negligence of the previous administration.
Not only did he interact with the school management, he interacted with the students as well, which led to the reintroduction of school feeding programme in secondary schools in the state.
The school feeding programme which was kick started with 7 schools as a pilot programme was later extended to the remaining schools across the state.

The last time citizens of the state benefitted from housing allocation is close to 10 years during times of Former Governor Nyako and Boni Haruna.
It is because of the housing deficit in the state that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri decided to build 2000 houses for the citizens of the state.
While signing an MOU with Family Homes, he said that 1200 houses will be built in the state capital, while the remaining local government areas will get 40 houses each by 2020.
In an effort to restore the building plan of the Jimeta Ultra Modern Market, he revoked the sale of lands around the market.

Known as the ATM Governor, workers welfare, salaries and entitlement is among the top of his priorities.
He pays full salaries as at when due and has made commitment to offset accumulated arrears the moment opportunity presents itself.
Before his assumption of office, he had made it crystal clear that payment of salaries and entitlement shall not be compromised, contrary to the prevailing nonchalant attitude towards civil servants, Adamawa being a workers state are now getting their full entitlements.
Not only is salary being paid before 25th of the month, it is paid even without collecting overdraft, he paid the 2019 leave grants, pension and gratuity of retired civil servants have been paid from 2012 and also he raised the monthly allocation for payments of pension and gratuity from 50 million to 100 million so that the accumulated pension and gratuity of pensioners will be settled.

Meanwhile, in the health sector, aged people, pregnant women and children under the age of 5 receive free treatment from Government owned hospitals and clinics, courtesy of the Fintiri’s led administration

Due to the incessant attack by Boko Haram in villages during the past administration, a lot of people had to flee their homes to avoid being killed and couldn’t come back now that the security situation has improved, so he facilitated the return of 133 Nigerian refugees residing in Cameroon just as promised.
He adopted Treasury Single Account in order to ensure prudence in the management of resources in the overall interest of governance. TSA will checkmate leakages and also boast Internally Generated Revenue. The Governor knows the importance of tackling corruption and so he is doing it amicably.
We might not see the quick effect of his developmental drive because of the rotten system he inherited, but with time, everything will be put in place at the proper time.
